Book 2 Chapter 1: First Day at Work
Tumblr media
The blaring alarm woke me up from my slumber. I jumped up from my bed, glancing at the clock on my bedside table. It was 8.30am.
"Shit shit shit shit! I'm late!"
I ran towards the bathroom for a quick shower, doing it while brushing my teeth. I finished, tried to jump out of the shower box, and stumbled my foot on the door frame. My toes hurt like hell. I swore and swore, but realised I didn't have the time to mourn. I stood up, still winching from the hurting toes, dried myself quickly, and ran outside.
I got dressed quickly while glancing at the clock. It was 8.35 am. I ran out of my room towards the fridge in the kitchen. I took out a bottle of cold brew coffee I had prepared the night before and a sandwich, and was ready to go out of my apartment before remembering that I hadn't done the one most important thing to do before leaving home.
I ran back to my room and kissed the Twice lightstick I placed on my table. It was my good luck charm. If I ever needed luck, today was the day I needed it the most. I wore my shoes and ran out. I glanced at my watch, it was 8.45 am. Shit! Would I make it in time?
My name is Han Min Soo, and I'm a hardcore Once for many years. Today was my first day as an intern in JYP Entertainment.
I couldn't believe how lucky I was when the acceptance letter came in last week, because I knew just how many people applied for the job opening in the newly established Talents Welfare Division, and also because I felt like I didn't do quite well during the entry test.
The interview was even worse. I knew I was so nervous that day, a huge part of it was because only right before the interview did I realise that I would be working under Bae Suzy, a famous second generation idol with Miss A, an awards-winning actress currently, and an industry legend, who had recently been appointed as the director of TWD. I remembered how beautiful and charming she looked during the interview, but she asked pointed and deep questions that I struggled to answer.
I ended the interview feeling defeated, but I remembered how Director Bae smiled kindly and shook my hand afterwards, and she told me she would be seeing me again. Still, I was so surprised that I got accepted a few days later, so surprised I injured myself from jumping around while celebrating. Yeah, I'm clumsy like that.
Being accepted to JYPE, and even more so to be working in TWD under Bae Suzy was a dream come true for any Twice fan in the world. I found myself smiling from ear to ear as I ran towards the bus stop near my apartment, already imagining how happy I would be when I would eventually meet the nine goddesses that were Twice. Sure, I knew that I might not be assigned to Twice directly, and I might not ever be assigned to them ever... But still, one day, I would meet them sooner or later, right? It was inevitable!
I boarded the bus towards JYPE headquarters in Cheongdam-dong, which in truth was only a few minutes away from my apartment, but still, I was nervous. As I sat down on my seat, I checked my phone, and found that there were 15 missed calls and almost 20 text messages sent in quick succession a few seconds apart from one number: Director Bae.
I gulped and read one message. They all had the same words, written in all caps.
'WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU MINSOO-YA!'
Shit. Shit. This was not good. Not good at all. I glanced at my watch again. 8.55 am. I was supposed to attend a meeting with her at 9 am. With trembling hands, I typed in my reply.
'I'm arriving! I am so very sorry, Bae-isanim!'
I tapped my knees impatiently, mentally urging the bus driver to drive even faster. Finally, the bus stopped at the bus stop in front of JYPE building, and I jumped out of the bus as fast as I could. It was exactly 9 am.
I ran inside while checking the employee app on my phone for the meeting room number I was supposed to be in right now. It states level 5, Boardroom.
"B–Board... Room?" I uttered to myself.
Boardroom? What... What kind of meeting was I about to attend? Who would be there along with Suzy?
The elevator couldn't come quickly enough, and I found myself tapping my feet anxiously as it went up. I knew the people in the elevator with me were looking at me with weird looks, but I didn't have the courage and time to apologize to them. The door slid open on the 5th floor, and I rushed outside towards the largest room on that floor.
Bae Suzy was standing right in front of the door. She was scowling when she saw me running towards her. It was 9.05 am.
"There you are! Fuck you! You made me late for my board meeting!" she yelled at me. I bowed deeply, apologizing while trying to catch my breath from all the running.
"I–I'm sorry, Bae-isanim! Won't happen again! S–So sorry!"
She slapped my head. It hurt.
"Come on! The meeting's starting soon," she said.
Suzy nodded towards the two guards standing at the large door, telling them to open it for us. They nodded sharply and opened the door, and she walked confidently inside. I followed a few steps behind her, only then noticing how beautiful and elegant she looked in her white blazer, white top, and black skirt.
The board room was large and luxurious looking, with large windows overlooking the Seoul skyline, filled with skyscrapers. I found myself gasping in awe of the room, but then my jaw dropped even lower when I saw Park Jin Young, JYP himself, sitting at the head of the table. Suzy noticed this and stepped on my foot.
"Behave," she whispered curtly. My mouth closed almost instantly. She looked straight at JYP and bowed low. I followed suit.
"My apologies, Park-hoejangnim, fellow directors, for being late," she said as politely as possible.
The other directors, all middle-aged men, scowled at the young director standing next to me, but JYP laughed and waved his hand.
"No worries, Suzy-ssi. Sit down, sit down!" he said kindly. Then he noticed me. "And who is this?"
"Allow me to introduce Han Min Soo, my new intern. This is his first day," Suzy said with a smile. I bowed down again.
"Ah, yes... My name is Han Min Soo, TWD's new intern! An honour to meet all of you!" I said, a little louder than I wanted. I heard JYP chuckled.
"Welcome, welcome, Han Min Seo-ssi! Happy to have you on board," he said while looking at his phone, mispronouncing my name.
"It's... Han Minsoo..."
Suzy stepped on my toes again. I turned, and found her shaking her head, telling me not to correct the big boss. I nodded.
"Sit there at the back. Type in every conversation that involves me in the minutes of meeting. Got it?" she whispered her directions. I nodded. "Yes, Bae-isanim."
Suzy nodded towards the chair I was supposed to sit in, along with other low ranking employees from other divisions, before walking towards the large table in the middle of the room, taking her seat as one of the directors. The CEO introduced JYP, who stood up, said a few words as the chairman of the company to welcome everyone, and the meeting began.
It only dawned on me after the second director presented his slides that this was the JYPE monthly board meeting. To be completely honest, the meeting was a really boring one. Each presentation by each director took almost half an hour to finish, with JYP and the CEO offering their own views on matters such as employee development, business development, finance, building maintenance, and creative.
Before long, I felt my head start to get dizzy from all the numbers, words, and datas presented by the directors. I glanced at Suzy, who to my surprise, was still sitting there calmly, looking like she understood everything that everyone said, even when they didn't concern her and TWD. I guessed there was a reason why she was appointed as a director herself.
After a short coffee break, it was Suzy's time to present. She walked near the screen and nodded towards me to play her presentation slides. I hastily complied. She presented all her upcoming projects with the TWD, and I noticed that the more she talked, the more her presence and charisma grew. The room slowly grew more and more quiet, everyone listening to her every word. I smiled, feeling proud that I was working under such an influential figure.
"Lastly," Suzy said at the end of her presentation. "It's about Twice's contract situation."
The entire room became even more quiet. I felt the directors' eyes slowly glancing towards JYP, who was sitting cross legged, suddenly looking a little concerned.
"They haven't agreed to extend it?" he asked. Suzy shook her head. "No. It's ending by the end of December, and they haven't signed our new contract offer," she said slowly.
JYP groaned.
"What is it about them? Don't they know that we love them so much? What else can we provide them to convince them to stay?" he asked, sounding desparate.
Suzy was about to reply, when the Financial Director raised his hand to interject. The chairman nodded towards him, letting him speak.
"To be honest, Park-hoejangnim, we've debuted four girl groups since Twice started 12 years ago, all with considerable success. To maintain five girl groups in the company is..." he paused, choosing his words carefully, "... Counter productive."
JYP frowned, but didn't say anything. Suzy was only standing there, waiting for the more senior board member to finish speaking. The Financial Director cleared his throat, and continued.
"Regrettably, I have to inform everyone that Twice is the most expensive group to maintain, mainly because of their size, and the luxury we afford them because they're our most senior active idol group," he explained.
He nodded towards his subordinate sitting next to me, who typed something on her computer, and a second later the screen was showing a table, listing the expenses and incomes of all active idol groups JYPE had. Twice's row was highlighted, showing how their expenses were way larger than the money they made. I found this strange, but I didn't say anything.
Suzy frowned and looked at the Financial Director directly and addressed him by his name.
"Excuse me, Jung-isanim. But... How is it possible that Twice is making less money than their juniors? That doesn't make sense," she said. "They're the second highest paid girl group from the third generation, second only to Blackpink."
Director Jung cleared his throat and sat up straight.
"Maybe because they're simply past their prime? They're getting older already now, right? How old is Im Nayeon now... 32 years old? Maybe it's time for them to move on," said Director Jung.
His words surprised me. Suzy stared at him in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I know for a fact that Twice is still one of the best in the industry. And... Regarding Nayeon's age, with all due respect, I honestly think that is none of your business, Jung-isanim," said Suzy sharply.
Director Jung sat back and smiled.
"I'm only telling you from the financial perspective, Bae-isanim," he said, shifting his focus towards the chairman. "Park-hoejangnim, I think it is in our best interest as a company to let Twice go. It's good that their contract is ending by the end of next month and they haven't agreed to a new one. Let other companies bear their expenses."
JYP sat silently for a while, before lifting his eyes towards Director Jung.
"But I really want them to stay," he said, and I thought I could catch a hint of sorrow in his voice. "Isn't there a way to make them stay?"
Director Jung let out a sigh.
"The only way we can possibly maintain them from a financial perspective is to cut their expenses and luxuries. They have their own separate apartments now, right? We can stop funding their shared apartment," he said. Suzy shook her head.
"Park Jihyo, Yoo Jeongyeon, and Son Chaeyoung still live in their shared apartment," she said. "We can ask them to join the other members," said Director Jung casually. "You want to kick them out? Are you serious?" asked Suzy. Her voice started to rise. Director Jung nodded nonchalantly.
"And we can stop paying for their cars, their mobile phone bills... Oh and their medical and therapy bills! Especially Myoui Mina and Yoo Jeongyeon... Geez they take up so much of our medical benefits these past few years," the Financial Director continued, still in a casual tone.
His last words were especially mean, but the way he said it was even more offensive. How could he casually dismiss Mina and Jeongyeon's medical needs like that? I was pissed, but Suzy was infuriated.
"Excuse me, but... What?" she exclaimed.
To my surprise, Director Jung was undeterred. He even managed a light chuckle. My anger was building up inside.
"We're a company, Bae-isanim, not a charity. You yourself said that you still believe that Twice is generating a lot of money, right? Then let them pay for their own medical needs themselves!" he said.
Suzy was livid. She was practically yelling to the Financial Director when she said her next words.
"It is their right to receive their treatments! Heck, they had their conditions because of the stress that came from becoming idols for our company! Don't you realize that we've had continued success in the industry because of how well we treated our talents, unlike our competitors who abused their talents like objects? Are you suggesting that we should treat Yoo Jeongyeon and Myoui Mina any less decently than what they deserve for working their asses off for us for the past twelve years?"
The room was gripped in silence and tension. Director Jung stood up from his chair slowly.
"Suzy-ya, you should mind your manners!" he said, dropping the honorifics, clearly starting to get angry. Suzy chuckled incredulously.
"Manners? Are you even serious right now? It is my job to take care of all the talents in this company, including every member of Twice!" she said, not backing down.
"Enough!"
Suzy and Director Jung fell silent. They all looked at JYP, who yelled to stop the two directors from engaging in a shouting match.
"I am not going to tolerate this kind of behaviour in a board meeting any longer. I hope you understand this, Bae-isanim, Jung-isanim," said JYP slowly, suddenly sounding menacing. I saw the other directors and staff members shivering in fear.
"Yes, My apologies, Park-hoejangnim," said Director Jung, bowing to the chairman and sitting back down on his chair. "I'm sorry, Park-hoejangnim," uttered Suzy, also bowing.
JYP sighed.
"As for the matter at hand... Can we please all talk about this like civilized people and not descend into a shouting match? Hm? Jung-isanim, what you said about Jeongyeon and Mina's medical benefits was just mean and cruel. We're not that kind of people," JYP said seriously. Director Jung nodded.
"My apology, Park-hoejangnim," he said calmly, but I noticed that he didn't look like he regretted saying any of it. "Is there a way to work around this without taking away their benefits?" asked JYP again.
Director Jung paused to think for a while.
"Nine members is a little bit too much, in my opinion. We can maintain them within the company with the same benefits and luxuries if we can reduce their numbers," he offered his opinion.
JYP considered this for a while, but before he said anything, Suzy cleared her throat to bring his attention to her.
"I... Don't think the girls would agree to that, Park-hoejangnim," she said. Director Jung looked like he was about to launch his rebuttal, but JYP raised his hand, shutting him down. "I think so, too..." JYP said, but then he paused. "... Although, you never know, Suzy-ssi. Maybe you can find out about that within these coming weeks?"
Suzy was taken aback by the chairman's request, but said nothing. She nodded.
"Yes, I will," she said. "Please find a solution to this problem, Bae-isanim..."
JYP sounded like he actually pleaded to Suzy to save his girls. I turned to look at the chairman, and he did look like a desperate father trying to keep his daughters safe. My respect grew for him.
"I will, Hoejangnim," Suzy replied with more conviction, and I knew she noticed the same thing.
JYP smiled and looked around the room.
"Right. Now, we need to support Bae-isanim and the TWD anyway we can!" he said excitedly. "Who would like to join Bae-isanim and work together in finding the solution to this matter?"
Excited, I raised my hand, but I instantly realised that that might be a mistake.
I was the only one doing so. Everyone else was staring at me, including all the other staff members, the directors, Suzy, and JYP himself.
"Ya! Kang Min Seo-ssi! It's your job to work with her! You're her staff!" JYP scolded me.
I felt my face burn red from embarrassment. Sheepishly, I pulled my hand back down, and I heard the other staff members around me giggling and chuckling at how silly I looked just now. I glanced at Suzy, who was looking at me tiredly. I mouthed 'Sorry' towards her, and she only shook her head, but I saw her smiling in the end.
To my surprise, I heard JYP laughing his famous high-pitched laugh.
"You've got guts, I'll give you that, Jang Min Seo-ssi!" he said, still laughing. "I–it's Han Min S..."
Again, I tried correcting the chairman, who kept mispronouncing my name, but then I caught Suzy shaking her head towards me, and I understood her, so I kept quiet.
Director Jung cleared his throat, scowling.
"I wish you all the best, Bae-isanim, and I am confident you will come up with the perfect solution for this matter," he said, but his kind words sounded empty. Nonetheless, Suzy nodded and expressed her gratitude.
Director Jung kept scowling, then he continued.
"I would also like to mention to Bae-isanim that unfortunately, the TWD will not be able to ask for any extra budget from the board to fund whatever plans you are planning. To come up with a new budget this late in the year will be..." he paused for dramatic effect.
"Counter productive," I whispered to myself, completing his words. And indeed he said that exact line.
"... Counter productive."
I chuckled silently.
Suzy nodded, accepting this limitation as a challenge. She quickly wrapped up her presentation, and went back to her seat. She was the last director to present, so JYP stood up and said his thanks to all who were present, and closed the meeting, before leaving for the lunch room next door.
I breathed a sigh of relief. My first meeting as a JYPE intern was an intense one, but I felt like it was a success. I bowed to bid farewell to the other staff members, and quickly walked towards the lunch room, finding Suzy, who was taking some food from the buffet.
"Bae-isanim!" I announced my presence.
Suzy didn't reply. She kept picking her food for a while, not looking at me. Suddenly, she told me off.
"Grab a plate, Minsoo-ya. Are you not hungry?" she asked without turning. "A–Ah, yes. Alright!" I said nervously.
I grabbed a plate and started taking some food with her. She quickly took some food and placed it on my plate, making me uncomfortable.
"This one's good, you should try this!" she said as she placed a fritter on my plate. "Ah, yes, gomapseumnida," I said nervously.
After placing a lot of stuff on my plate, she finally turned to look at me, smiling.
"Thanks, Minsoo-ya," she said kindly. "You're welcomed, Bae-isanim... E-eh? Wh–what for?"
She chuckled.
"For standing up for me."
She turned and walked towards a standing table in the middle of the room. I followed her there.
"B–but, like Park-hoejangnim said, It is my job to work with you, right?" I told her. She smiled and nodded. "Yes, it is your job, but people appreciate it when you show them that you support them willingly, not just because it's your job," she explained. "Ah... Okay. I get it, Bae-isanim," I said, finally understanding what she meant.
Suzy shot me an irritated look suddenly.
"Stop calling me 'Bae-isanim' when you talk to me in a non-formal setting, Minsoo-ya! Just call me 'Sunbae'!" she said.
Apparently being called 'Director Bae' over and over again made the young director uncomfortable. I chuckled nervously and nodded.
"Y–Yes, Sunbaenim," I said, still not wanting to drop the honorifics. She chuckled and started eating happily.
Suddenly, I felt a hand slapping my back. I turned, and almost spat the food I was chewing in my mouth when I saw who did that.
It was JYP.
"A–Ah, G-Good Morn... After... Lunchtime, Park-hoejangnim!" I exclaimed, stumbling over my words.
JYP laughed and scooted forward, standing in between Suzy and myself.
"Calm down, Min Seo-ssi! You look like you're meeting a ghost!" he said casually. "I–It's... Minsoo, Hoejangnim," I uttered. Suzy glared at me, but I had been wanting to correct him so badly the entire morning. "What's that?" JYP asked. "My name is Han Minsoo, Hoejangnim," I corrected him fearfully, before adding, "... S–sorry."
JYP stared at me for a while, but then he laughed again.
"Ah... I'm sorry, Minsoo-ssi! Too many people, too many names to remember! Han Minsoo-ssi!" he exclaimed happily, repeating my name to remember it. I nodded and smiled.| "T–Thank you, Hoejangnim," I said. "So today's your first day at work? How do you like it so far? How's the building? How's Suzy as a boss?" he shot me a barrage of questions.
I glanced at Suzy, who was standing behind him, and she nodded, telling me to answer him truthfully. I gulped and answered.
"W–well... Yes, today is my first day. I'm loving it so far, Hoejangnim, as I am a longtime Once as well. The building is... Amazing!" I answered in quick succession, before looking at Suzy to answer his last question, "...And Bae-isanim is... A good boss, so far."
JYP laughed and turned towards Suzy, who jokingly pouted her lips. She smiled and nodded appreciatively towards me.
"Okay! Good luck for your first day and the many days and years after that, Minsoo-ssi! I will certainly remember Suzy's gutsy new staff member!" he said happily, clapping my shoulder and shaking it rapidly.
I chuckled and nodded to thank him. He smiled, then turned to face Suzy.
"Suzy-ya..." he said, suddenly sounding worried. Suzy closed her eyes and nodded, understanding him. "I know, Oppa," she said sincerely. "I really love those girls, Suzy-ya... Please convince them to stay for me? They're like my daughters... I can't let them go!" he pleaded with Suzy again. "Don't worry, Oppa. I'll do my best," said Suzy, looking more comfortable now talking to JYP as a junior to her senior, not as a director to the chairman of the board.
I knew JYP wasn't convinced yet. He still looked worried.
"I'm worried, Suzy-ya... You'll only have a little over a month to do this. Are you sure you can convince them to stay?"
To my surprise and amazement, Suzy genuinely smiled for the very first time that day. She grabbed JYP's arm and squeezed it confidently.
"Oppa, believe me. I've done a more impossible task than this in just one weekend."

>If someone is talking about "feeling like a man" and starts talking about gender roles then they have a very misunderstood understanding of what trans means.
Yeah, exactly this! I've met individuals, for whom it was either a stereotype image of a man, or that they didn't feel like conforming to the stereotype woman's gender role, or felt like the existing "understanding" of what is a woman (soft, caring, pliant, "wife and mother", "man's helper", you name it) doesn't really apply to them and thus they are a man, especially since men are allowed a bit more diversity. I have no way of knowing if that was a misunderstanding or they indeed were trans and just couldn't describe it, but I think, at least part of those cases indeed were rooted in misogyny and sexism. Seeing transwomen, for whom (at least it followed from what they said) being a woman meant basically following the existing stereotypes and liking the "stereotypically female" things didn't help my case either (again, I have no way to know though, if those individuals had a misunderstood understanding of trans or couldn't describe it). I have to admit, that at some point that was what made me think that radfems had a point, because, as it looked to me, I had to either agree that trans indeed was about the gender stereotypes (which I never liked and transitioning just because one didn't like those stereotypes also didn't make sense to me) and that also left me with a question, wtf am I (since I'm not exactly traditional role conforming lol) or agree with radfems. The radfems' rhetoric stopped making sense to me on its own, though, and now that I have a better understanding of transgender, it's really a relief. It might sound silly, but for me, the understanding makes me feel more comfortable with transgender people (I'm sorry if that sounds rude), and also it means that I don't have to chose between transgender rights and women's rights and it's possible to be allies and help each other where we can.
I'm glad it helped clear things up for you. And it's actually a natural reaction to understanding things. When we understand something we accept it a lot better. When we don't understand something it's a LOT harder to accept it.
Another thing is that often times there is more gray then there is black and white. It's never really "what side are you on" because most people fall in the middle somewhere. Most issues fall into a gray area, and can't be divided into one or the other. Something which a lot of people don't seem to understand either.
I think a big thing too, if someone medically transitions and is happy but described being trans using gender roles-- then they probably just couldn't explain it properly with the words they had. Cuz a women who transitions into a man strictly because of gender roles WILL quickly realize she doesn't like the results. She'll end up having the same dysphoria trans people experience and she'll want to reverse the medical transition (usually these people will realize it quickly and can stop sooner rather than later). It's part of the reason why starting to medically transition can take so long (that and the medical field kinda sucks sometimes). But if he's happy as a man, then he's a man. And it's good he figured himself out.
It's just that overall, it can be difficult to describe what it feels like/means to be trans. Sometimes its easier to talk about gender roles because everyone is heavily affected by them, but being trans is about the actual physical characteristics of the body not gender roles. It's also very much internal, without any external factors contributing to it (tho outside factors can trigger gender dysphoria and make it manifest in different ways).

Tumblr media
"Hey, Shouto?" You began as you stepped off the private jet, your boyfriend, Shouto Todoroki, assisting you down the steps with your hand in his. His head tilts as if to say he was listening as you step down from the steps of the jet, "What do you think we should do first? The expo hasn't begun, yet, so since you've been here before what do you wanna do first?" You smiled at him, excited to look around the moving city. Standing in your hero costune, you adjusted your sleeve, giving him a close eyed grin.
Shouto looked at you, thoughtfully, before he felt his face heat up, almost embarrassed. "I-I'm not sure..." he answered truthfully, your smile fades slightly, but it comes back sympathetically. Recalling him telling you how odd it was for someone to ask what he wanted for a change, it was still new to him.
You grabbed his hand anyway, giggling cutely. "Well, I guess we've just gotta go everywhere! Don't worry, remember, we're here to have fun. For once, we don't have to worry about anything else." You pulled him towards the exit as other planes came to the loading dock and people slowly began piling into the city. Shouto looks at you as he jogs beside you, his lips twitching up into a smile as you happily laughed beside him, your eye's sparkling as you witnessed the beauty of the city.
"A-actually..." he pauses as he stutters and you look over at him, he feels his face burning once more. It's still so weird, you make him feel all of these emotions and he's still learning how to deal with them. Especially since you encourage him, everyday, to express himself to the fullest when he's been taught all his life to do anything but that. He directs his gaze to the city, "I think I know somewhere you might like..." he suggests, remembering a place he had visited once before, fondly.
Your eye's widen at him before you laugh ecstatically, jumping up to float for a few seconds before landing and clapping your hands together. "Really? I wonder what it is, you're so thoughtful, I'm so happy you would think of me!" You pumped your fist in the air, "Come on, let's go!"
Shouto nodded, leading you to the identification inspection, you both passed through, seeing your pictures on the floating screens beside you both. With your luggage already being sent to the hotel by Endeavor's own assistants you and Shouto had all the time you needed to tour the city until the expo preview. You would have to be there for the formal party at the end of the day, your father being the Number one hero also had to be present.
That's right, you were (Y/n) Yagi, Daughter of All Might, the world's number one hero. You went to U.A. High School, the top hero school in Japan, and the hardest hero course to ever get into. You were proud to be part of your hero academia, you've met so many friends and you knew if it weren't for being a student there you wouldn't have met the boys who stole your heart.
You took Shouto's arm, pressing up against him, "So, where'd you wanna take me?" You asked him.
You both walked straight through the walkway, watching the projections that flickered across the sky and the tall buildings that towered over the area. People looked over at the both of you, noting your hero gear, Shouto could see the boys about his age staring at you alittle too long. You felt shouto pull away from you, slipping from your grip, you pouted before blushing heavily as he instead slipped his arm around your waist. Glaring at the boys as he passed them, he held his head higher as he smirked internally as they turned away, realizing you were taken.
"I was thinking, you'd like to see the hero support tech. They always have new items they feature every month, I remember you told me you were experimenting with designs for your thrusters. Maybe they could give you new ideas for--" he was cut off as you gave him a quick peck on the lips, he paused unable to finish as he stared at you, almost bewitched for the endless time today.
You laughed. "I'm so glad you think of me so often. You're usually not talking so much, I want you to do it much more often! And, oh...sorry, I didn't let you finish." You rubbed the back of your neck, chuckling nervously before he took your jaw in one hand. He tips your head up before kissing you lightly, you smile into it, before he pulls away and smiles, offering his hand once more.
"Let's head over there before it gets too crowded," he says, his heart warming as you blush and grin up at him, nodding happily.
"Right!"
An explosion cuts off the small lecture that a pro hero was giving after showing off her newest tech support, a metal chest plate, flexible alloy that could stretch and take an extensive amount of damage.
You and Shouto both turn towards the explosion, curious of the smoke rising from the area, you recall passing by an arena that a few people had challenged to overcome a few robotic, villain simulators. You link eyes with Shouto's before you both decide to head off in that direction, "Hey, do you think Katsuki and Izuku have arrived yet?" You wondered aloud, placing a finger on your chin, your head tilting up, curiously.
Shouto raised a brow. "Midoriya's here?"
Your eye's widened, remembering that you hadn't told him. "Oh yeah, Dad's taking Izuku as his guest. He was invited and had a plus one, just like you." That's right, you had wanted Izuku to come to the Expo, especially since he's always wanted to come to the floating city. You had taken Shouto's offer to travel since he was going alone and he had invited you beforehand anyway, you recalled Bakugo throwing a fit after you told him. "I guess since he and katsuki left earlier, they're already here." You said.
Shouto nodded before you both found yourself in front of the arena, the smoke around the area decreasing slowly. It wasn't someone you recognized, you almost hoped it would've been Katsuki, but you knew he'd show up sooner or later.
"Do you wanna try?" You asked him, turning towards Shouto.
He looked at you, alittle surprised, arm's crossed. "Hm...I wouldn't want to leave you here alone."
You grinned at him, "I'll be fine, don't worry. I'll be up here cheering you on, like in the sports festival!" You beamed. His gaze softened as you said that, remembering hearing your voice over the thundering crowds, encouraging him to keep going. "Besides, I won't be far behind you, I'll try out too!"
He nodded, smiling faintly. "Ok. I guess I'll go after this one...huh?"
You followed his confused gaze onto the arena as you saw a familiar red head, a smile quickly blooming on your face, "Kirishima!"
Izuku groaned, laying his head on his arm, slumped against the chair as he sat at the cafe table, relieved as the girls of his class didn't both to ask him any questions as to why he was here. Melissa, who was nice enough to show him around, distracted them with questions and answers.
He wondered what you were doing now, you had given up going with your father to the Expo, just for him. He couldn't believe he was here, having seen so many amazing sights and met the famous David Shield. He couldn't thank you enough, he had felt so guilty when you told him that you'd given him your ticket of invitation, calling the expo and everything to inform them of the change. He felt tears coming to his eye's, raising a fist in admiration for his love, he was so blessed to have you.
A glass was placed in front of him, suddenly, a small item, shaped in the yellow silhouette of All might's head floating in the colorful liquid. "Thanks for waiting!"
That voice! Izuku thought as he sat up, before his eye's widened in surprise.
The golden hair of his friend and the dark lightning stripe of hair stood out to the green haired student, "Kaminari!" Holding a serving platter to his chest, Kaminari grinned widely at his peer.
"Is that...Mineta?" He heard Ochaco gasp.
"What are you two doing here?" Jirou wondered aloud.
"Well, they needed extra staff for the expo and we applied to work, right?" Kaminari answered.
Mineta smirked, his hands on his hips. "We get to explore the Expo on our breaks, and we make the money!" He said victorious. Then, he made eye contact with the girls of his class, "Plus, we get to make passionate encounters with some of the cute--oh my god, I think I'm in love!" Mineta gasped out as he finished, his eyes landing on Melissa, who stared in confusion.
Izuku tensed up as Mineta and Kaminari immediately crushed him together, urging him to cough up any details about the American girl he was currently associated with. "Hey, midoriya, who's the high voltage hotty over there?" Kaminari creepily whispered.
"Come on! Give us details! It's bad enough that you've stolen (y/n) from us! Especially since she's here and she didn't even let me catch catch a feel in that sexy outfit of hers!" Mineta drooled at the thought.
"I thought you were working! This is what you do? You're supposed to be working hard!" Iida sprints over, lecturing the two perverted young peers.
Izuku glared at the grape head before his eye's widened as he listened to him carefully, "Wait a minute! Did you say (y/n) was here?" He immediately stood from his seat, ready to bolt to meet up with you, he couldn't wait to see you.
Mineta was still drooling, his hands groping the air as if he was imagining it was you, making Izuku twitch in irritation. Kaminari answers instead, "Oh, yeah, her and Shouto passed by almost an hour ago. They're heading over--" there was an explosion before he could finish. Everyone turns to the noise in shock.
"What was that?!"
After running over to the arena, he sees two large screens over a rocky mountain, smoke rising and debris having fallen to the ground. He recognized this as a villains course, his eyes widening as he recognized the person on the screen. "A stunning 33 seconds!" The announcer exclaimed, exuberantly.
"Kirishima?" Izuku questioned, surprised to see another peer.
"I'm guessing he's from UA as well?" Melissa questioned.
"Yeah, he's in the same class as us!" He answered.
Soon, the announcer spoke once more as Kirishima climbed down the mountain, "Please welcome our next challenger!" She announced.
Izuku immediately paled as he noticed the ashy blonde walking up to the attack course, "K-kacchan?!"
Bakugo gets ready, squatting down as his palms light up and the announcer raises her voice, "Ready...go!" Katsuki is blasting off the ground before anyone can register, his quirk immediately exploding off his fingers and targeting every robot in the vicinity, blasting him upwards to meet another simulated villain.
"Die!" He commands as he let's off another explosion.
Finishing off the last bot, he lands perfect in a squat, smirking in victory as he straightens to hear the results. "Amazing! Our first place winner with 15 seconds!" She hasn't even turned around yet when he starts walking off towards the audience stands.
"Hey! Isn't that Midoriya?" Izuku pales as Kirishima calls him out, eliciting Bakugo's attention.
Izuku chuckles nervously before he screams in shock as Bakugo blasts himself upwards, grabbing onto the metal railing stopping him from barreling straight into the boy. "Dammit! What're you doing here?!" Obviously pissed to see him.
"K-kacchan!"
Afterwards, after kirishima brings up trying out the course, Bakugo angrily allows Izuku to try a pathetic attempt to beat his high score. Gulping, Izuku passes him by, as the boy grits his teeth, holding himself back from strangling the boy. That's at least before he remembers something before Izuku can jump over the railing, "Oi! Deku!"
Tensing up, he turns around, "Y-yes?"
He frown's at him before calming slightly. "Where's (y/n)? I heard she went with icy hot, I guess she gave you her invite, typical." He grunts bitterly, angrily. Izuku could see the mention of you brightened his mood noticeably, despite his bitter attitude of seeing him at the Expo, of all places.
"I-i haven't seen her. Kaminari told me that he saw her pass by around here, I came over looking for her. I thought she might be with you."
Bakugo huffed, looking away from him. "Fuck...still with that bastard." He internally groaned, eager for your attention.
Seeing that he was finished talking to him, Izuku went down to the course to start. He waited for the announcers words before bursting into the air, similar to Bakugo, he took the robots on with no problem, limiting his power usage to prevent any damage to his limbs. Finishing with a surprising, 16 seconds, he happily smiled as he heard his score. Going up to his friends, Iida and Ochaco praised him immediately, "wow!" She praised him, as Iida told him of his great performance.
Bakugo grumbled, roaring angrily. "Shut up! I'll blast your score to ash!"
Suddenly, there's a rush of cold and the sound of ice spreading, quickly before the announcer is squealing at the rush of power. "Ah! This is insane! 14 seconds!"
Everyone went over to the railing again, surprised to see that half the mountain was encased in ice and Todoroki was at the bottom, straightening from using his quirk to destroy the bots with ease. "Hey, Todoroki!" Izuku grinned at the sight of his friend, before he began looking around, knowing you couldn't be far behind.
However, from behind everyone, Bakugo blasts into the air, angrily soaring towards Todoroki, who stares at the boy blankly. "Outta the way, icy hot bastard!" He yells before landing in front of the dual quirk boy.
"Bakugo." He says simply.
"You can't just appear outta no where and try to show me up!"
"And I see the others are here too," he looks at the stands, nodding as he makes eye contact with Izuku.
"Don't you ignore me! What're you doing in the island anyway!" Bakugo growls.
"My father was invited. I'm here in his place," he states, calmly.
The announcer waves a hand towards Bakugo, "Um, the next person is waiting," she says before squeaking in fright as Bakugo blows up at her.
"Shut up! I'm going next!" Bakugo turns and yells.
"Aw, and here I was thinking I'd get a shot..." Your voice instantly reaches the explosive boy, turning towards you he relaxes almost instantly as he sees you walking over to him, smiling happily. "Katsu, I'm glad to see you," you say, stopping in front of him.
Katsuki can hardly get the words out of his mouth for a moment, you had always been the only person who could leave him speechless, without even trying. That costume wasn't helping either. "(Y/n)...hey," he breathes, his normally stiff shoulders now limp and his back straightening as he fully turns to you. He realizes his unorthodox attitude before leaning forwards quickly to bump foreheads with you gently, "This bastard didn't bore you to death, did he?"
Shouto glares at the blonde, "Bakugo--" you place a hand on his chest, stopping him.
"Shouto was actually great company. We watched my favorite movie on the plane. He even gave me a tour, when we landed, I never knew this place was so big! It was so much fun!" You boasted, making Shouto's heart swell with pride while Bakugo was secretly hoping for a different answer as he huffed.
"(Y/n)!"
You looked away from Bakugo, both boys turning to see Izuku running towards you, happily, bounding with each step in excitement.
An immediate look of pure joy overcomes your features and your blasting forwards, purple energy bursting from your feet and leaving a dust cloud in its wake, you're ramming into him before he reaches you. However, after so many hugs like this before, Izuku is ready and catches you perfectly, laughing along with you as he spins on his heel with you in his arms. "Zuku!" You squeal, grinning widely as pepper his face with kisses.
As Izuku finally puts you down, you were surprised to see him on his knees almost instantly, burying his head into your stomach, his hands wrapped around your legs. "Thank you so much for bringing me!" He cries, his eyes welled with tears as he looked up at you, a watery smile on his face. "I'm so blessed!"
You grinned down at him, leaning down, your loose hair draping forward around you, "I knew you'd like to come and I wouldn't want you to miss it. Besides this trip wouldn't be complete with out you, babe," you giggled as he blushed at the nickname, although he should be used to it. You pressed your lips against his forehead and pulled away as he stood stood to his feet, standing taller than you.
"Well, I really appreciate it. So, I, uh, I wanted to give you this!" He pulls out a small box from his suits pocket, he hands it to you, blushing heavily but giving you a wide grin. "I hope you like it!"
You smile softly before opening it, you're eyes widening before softening as you take the brooch in your hand, it was big enough to fit in your palm. It was a ruby brooch, it was beautiful and you knew that Izuku bought it from his heart, you were moved that he'd get something so heartfelt for you, knowing you loved the color. You leaned towards him, "Thank you, Zuku. You're wonderful," you whispered before giving him a kiss in the middle of the field.
He melts into the kiss, his knees almost buckling before you pull away, giggling as you clutch the brooch lovingly.
"Uh...um, hey, so is anyone going next?" The announcer wonders aloud, questioning the four of you. You nearly forgot you were in the middle of the arena, reuniting with your boyfriends definetly took your attention away.
You stepped forwards, "Oh, yeah, I guess I am!"
The announcer sighed in relief before giving you you a thumbs up, "Alright, the villains attack course has reset!" You walked up to the starting target, where the announcer stood a few meters ahead of you.
You turned to the boys with a close eyed smile, "Wish me luck!"
"Good luck!" Izuku. "You got this." Shouto. "Just don't go hurtin' yourself, would you?" Of course, Katsuki.
You giggled before turning to the announcer and crouching down, urging your power to spread. You felt the energy running through your suits chest orb before it split to run through your arm's and down to your legs. Light purple energy slowly becoming apparent around your body, a rope of gold energy swelling out of your skin. "Ready..." you felt time slow, letting out a breath as you felt your skin heat up, before you felt a smirk blossom on your face as your eye's narrowed and changed color. A ring of purple energy swirling in your orbs. "Go!"
She didn't even see you move, the announcer only felt felt a burst of energy run through her and right out before the air pressure blows her back. You're soaring above her before she can utter a word, your booted heel making contact with the first bot before you burst upwards causing it to shatter from the thrust. The force causes you to flip in mid-air and you bring your charged fist forwards, a ball of energy apparent around your fist. It hits the second bot as you release it and you turn quickly, bringing both hands up to take the third bots metal face in your hands and blowing it back. The impact causes it to make contact with the fourth, both exploding on impact.
"Wow..." Ochaco mutters as she watches you from the stands, before glancing down at the three boys standing at the side of the arena. They all watched in pride, even Bakugo, although although he was more reluctant to show it.
"(Y/n)'s doing great!" Jirou smiled, praising her friend.
"So amazing! She's learned so much from her internship, I bet!" Momo gasped, grinning at her friend.
You landed in a crouch, straightening with a smile, "That was fun!"
"Wow! Our new challenger just scored our highest: 12 seconds!"
You laughed, clapping happily, "Yay!"
"(Y/n)'s so amazing..." Ochaco exclaimed in awe.
